Otherwise, you'll be using an unaltered noise sample which doesn't correspond with the altered commentary, so it could potentially remove frequencies that you don't want it to, affecting the sound of your voice. What other effects are you using, and in what order do you apply them? Are you doing noise removal before compression and normalizing, or after? Do you have your noise sample on a separate track, or are you taking your sample from the same track as your commentary? The reason all that is important is that you need to apply the same effects to your noise sample as you do the commentary if you're doing noise removal last (which you should be, but that's a different topic). The next most comon issue is other effects. Having those sounds in your noise sample could be telling the noise removal effect to remove frequencies that aren't noise, which can affect the sound of your voice. No breathing, no chair squeaks, no cars going by your house, nothing else whatsoever. Make sure that the sample you use contains ONLY noise. If you can't afford it, or don't want to alter your walls by adding foam, put up some blankets on your walls instead.Д«y far the most common cause of problems with noise removal is a bad noise sample. Also, adding acoustic treatment to your room will help reduce the reflections and background noise. A mic shield or a mic box can help with this as well. You are eliminating background noises by not recording them in the first place. Get better computer fans, turn off your A/C or furnace, and point your mic away from noise sources. Another good solution is to cut the noise out at the source. Either turn it down, get a better sample, or don't use it at all. If your voice starts sounding tinny and robotis that is because you took out too much frequencies with your noise removal tool. No voice, no clicks, just your computer fans and the room. I suggest having a good 10s of solid room noise recorded. The trick is to find a good place to analyze. It does not work great for things like clicks of keyboard sounds which happen infrequently. This works great for fans and such which are on constantly. Noise removal analyzes a bit of your waveform and find a recurring set of frequencies.
